How it works

Formula 1 awards points to the top 10 finishers of every Grand Prix, with the winner receiving 25 points (down to 1 point for 10th place). There are 24 races in the 2025 season. Each race worth 25 points, plus 1 for fastest lap, totaling 26 points per race.

The Drivers' Championship is won by the driver who accumulates the most points across all 24 races (maximum possible: 624 points total) calculated before the final race. This happens when their maximum possible points exceed what any rival theoretically achieve, even if that rival won every remaining race.

When we find a championship clinch scenario, we calculate which race it could occur if the driver wins every remaining race based on the current points gap and remaining opportunities. If key contenders finish consistently low (ex: P2-P5), fewer races would be needed to clinch.
